SCAN Health Care Long Beach Volunteers Revitalize El Dorado Park West in Community Service Day

Long Beach’s El Dorado Park West received a significant boost thanks to the Senior Care Action Network (SCAN) Health Plan Volunteer Day, celebrating SCAN’s 40 years of commitment to the community. Over one hundred SCAN employees, along with their families, dedicated their time and energy to enhance the park, demonstrating SCAN’s ongoing dedication to Long Beach.

“Long Beach is proud to be the home of SCAN for four decades, a testament to their deep roots in our city and their commitment to our residents,” stated Mayor Robert Garcia. “This volunteer effort and SCAN’s 40th Anniversary are truly commendable, showcasing their valuable partnership with Long Beach.”

The enthusiastic volunteers focused their efforts on painting various parts of the El Dorado Park West Community Center and its surroundings. In an impressive two-hour span, they successfully painted 70 trash cans, two backstops, the roller hockey rink walls, five storage containers, and a concession stand. Their collective effort brought a fresh and vibrant look to key areas of the park, directly benefiting the community.

SCAN CEO Chris Wing expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, “Giving back to the Long Beach community is a core value at SCAN, and Councilwoman Stacy Mungo’s invitation to contribute to the El Dorado Park West Community Center was a perfect opportunity.” Wing further added, “I am incredibly proud of the SCAN team and their families for their hard work in revitalizing this important park facility, which serves as a hub for our senior community. This event truly embodies SCAN’s mission and our long-standing dedication to serving seniors in Long Beach and beyond.”

The revitalization of the community center and park has been warmly received by regular park visitors and community center users. The fresh paint and renewed facilities are providing an enhanced and more welcoming environment for all who utilize El Dorado Park West. This initiative underscores the positive impact of community partnerships and the dedication of organizations like SCAN Health Care in Long Beach to improving local amenities.
