Having trouble setting up Huawei PC Manager on your non-Huawei laptop? Many users encounter outdated information when trying to install Huawei Share and PC Manager on unsupported devices. This guide simplifies the process, focusing on a crucial step: scanning the Huawei QR code to establish a connection.
This method is based on community findings and is designed for Huawei PC Manager v11. It should be compatible with AMD CPUs (though not explicitly tested) and requires Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities on your PC. A wired connection is also possible, even without Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. NFC tag functionality is also supported.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide
-
Extract and Run as Administrator: After downloading, extract the ZIP file and run
PCManagerMgr.exe
as an administrator. -
Set Date to May 12, 2020: This is a critical step. Change your PC’s date to May 12, 2020. The installation will likely fail without this step.
-
Enter Code and Install: In the PCManagerMgr interface, input the code

. Ensure your date is set correctly, or the code may not work.Alt text: PCManagerMgr installation interface highlighting the code entry field, install button, and version information, emphasizing the importance of entering the correct code and verifying the software version.
Follow the on-screen prompts to install PC Manager.
-
Launch PC Manager and Connect: Once installed, launch PC Manager from the desktop shortcut. Navigate to the “Phone” section on the left menu and click “Connect”.
-
Scan the QR Code: Click on the half-visible QR code icon as indicated in the image below. This will display a larger, scannable QR code.

Use Huawei Browser to Scan: It’s crucial to use the Huawei Browser on your Huawei phone to scan this QR code. Other QR scanners may not work. Set Huawei Browser as your default browser temporarily for this step. Enable Huawei Share, Bluetooth, and potentially NFC on your phone.
After scanning, connection requests should appear on your phone. Allow these requests to establish the connection.
Troubleshooting QR Code Scan Issues
If scanning the QR code in Huawei Browser only leads to a blank page or no action, you might need to uninstall updates for the Huawei Browser app on your phone.
-
Go to your phone’s settings -> Apps -> Apps.
-
Search for “Browser”.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right corner and select “Uninstall updates”.

After uninstalling updates, try scanning the QR code again. It should now function correctly. Avoid updating the browser app in the future to maintain this functionality.
Optional: NFC Tag Setup
For NFC tag users, install the Chinese .apk file included in the downloaded ZIP archive. This installs the Huawei Share OneHop app. Scan the initial QR code displayed in PCManagerMgr (from the first image in this guide) using the OneHop app. Then, follow the app prompts to pair your NFC tag by placing your phone near the tag.
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully install and connect Huawei PC Manager on your non-Huawei laptop, leveraging the QR code scan for a seamless connection.
