Easily Scan Images to PDF with Nitro Pro

Converting your paper documents into digital PDF format simplifies storage and accessibility. Nitro Pro offers a straightforward method to scan single pages or entire documents, depending on your scanner capabilities. You can even merge different paper sources into a single PDF document.

Steps to Scan Paper Documents to PDF:

  1. Navigate to the Home tab in Nitro Pro, locate the Create group, and click on the PDF button. Hover over From Scanner to reveal the sub-menu options.
  2. Select Single Scan. In the Single Scan Settings dialog box, choose your preferred scanner, specify the pages you wish to scan, and designate the save destination for your PDF file.
  3. Click Scan. This action will launch your default scanning software interface.
  4. Within your scanner software, select your desired scanning mode: color, grayscale, or monochrome/black and white, based on your document needs.
  5. Once scanning is configured in your scanner software, find and select the command to return control to Nitro Pro, allowing the scanned image to be processed within Nitro Pro.
  6. Choose the Finish option to finalize your scan job if you are done, or select Scan front of sheet two to continue scanning additional pages of your document.

Leveraging Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

  • Enhance Document Searchability: Employ OCR to add a searchable text layer to your image-based PDF. This invisible layer enables text selection, searching, and annotation directly on top of the scanned image, greatly increasing document utility.

Additional Scanning Features

  • PDF/A-1b Compliance: For archival purposes, you can create PDF/A-1b compliant files. This standard ensures long-term preservation and accessibility of your scanned documents.
  • Automatic PDF Opening: Opt to automatically open the newly created PDF document in Nitro Pro immediately after the scanning process is complete, for quick review or further editing.
