Position Overview

As a Claims Data Entry Clerk II, you will play a vital role in the accurate and timely processing of healthcare claims. This position involves a combination of data entry, document scanning, and claims verification tasks across various lines of business, including complex claims. You will be responsible for keying claims into our core adjudication system, verifying member eligibility, and scanning and sorting medical records. This role is essential to maintaining the efficiency of our claims department and ensuring providers are paid accurately and promptly.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing high-volume data entry of medical claims and related documents with a focus on accuracy and speed.
  • Scanning medical records and other documents into our systems, ensuring proper categorization and storage.
  • Verifying member eligibility for services to accurately process and route claims based on product lines.
  • Reviewing submitted claims for completeness and accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Preparing and sending rejection letters to providers for claims that do not meet requirements, maintaining a high level of accuracy in communication.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of L.A. Care policies and procedures to ensure compliance in all claims processing activities.
  • Meeting established production standards for data entry and processing volumes.
  • Contributing to special projects and generating ad-hoc reports as needed to support departmental needs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning of the claims department.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of proven experience in accurate, high-volume claims data entry or claims processing is required.
  • Preferred experience in managed care or Medi-Cal claims processing environments.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $45,760.00 (Min.) – $47,823.00 (Mid.) – $55,818.00 (Max.), and is dependent on factors such as experience, education, and market conditions.
